Description
After leaving New Orleans
Nov 26. at noon we rode
all afternoon, thru villages
beside cane, and rice fields
etc. Jenerette, where
the Walker's (Nellie Loars
family) were reared, looked
like a nice little city.
When this photo was
taken we were being
ferried down and across
the Great Father of Waters, = the
Mississippi River. The long
train was divided into three
ports; all in one ferry boat.
Just as the sun was settling we
landed in Beaumont, Texas
and about midnight we
went thru San Antonio
I never supposed I could
be persuaded to go straight
thru old San Antonio.
I saw some palm trees, and
an arched gateway, bearing the
word - Welcome - (the Gateway -
not the trees.
