Roosevelt Dam Trip Ariz

The trip home via Miami-

Superior was even more

interesting than that of the

previous day.

Just a little beyond the Dam

we drove a mile off the main

road to the beginning of a trail

up - up - up - to a number

of cliff dwellings.

At first we thought we could

make the grade. The men

didn't care a heap whether

or not they did, but I was

so anxious to reach them.

Only a few steps convinced

me it was a perfectly

useless effort, so back to the

car we trudged and tried to

satisfy our curiosity by looking

upward. The topmost ones are

almost inaccessible.

This scene does not give an

accurate idea of the height of the

crags which looked like giant

castles in this particular section

Every pillar was topped with an

apparently loose stone.
